The weather was beautiful for Saturday’s Seasons of Life Creativity Workshop, and the location couldn’t have been more perfect for the theme – the power of place.
We looked at how place is important to individuals and writers. Author Winifred Gallagher wrote, “The places in our lives get under our skin and influence our behavior in ways that we often don’t suspect.”
My favorite quote of the day was from author, environmentalist Tempest Terry Williams, “Our kinship with Earth must be maintained; otherwise we will find ourselves trapped in the center of our own paved-over souls with no way out.”
Photographer Harlan Finnemore summed it up best, “One’s true sense of place must ultimately come from inside one’s self.”
A special thanks to Sue Mayfield-Geiger for digging up all the insightful quotes and thoughts on the power of place.
One question remains: where does your inspiration live?
