A Year on Clear Lake-Oct 27, 2013

The Buzz–October 27, 2013

They hardly generate a warm fuzzy to see them, but these wasps were among the first inhabitants to greet me when I arrived today.  The morning’s rain weighed down the tree’s leaves to reveal the hiding sight of the nest. I pass this tree everyday, but today was the first time I remember ever seeing the nest.

A huge flock of ibises–at least 75–flew by, following the contour of the ground, then soaring to the sky. Where they came from and where they went–no idea, but it was an impressive sight.

It was the osprey’s day to claim the top spot on the peninsula today.
