Little Blue Heron–November 04, 2013
It’s intriguing how things can change from day to day. One day is quiet with little to be found, the next, bustling with activity. There was certainly more action today, and a surprise finding–the Killdeer. I spotted the family of them foraging in the area near the Little Blue Heron. They were barely visible since they blended so well with the vegetation.
A small flock of warblers was dashing about the foliage. They are hard to capture on the camera. Not only are they fast, they are tiny, as well.
It almost seemed liked deja vu with the osprey, sitting at its spot atop the sign post. The osprey had its catch, and was taking its time devouring it.
Meanwhile, a Great Blue Heron claimed the post at the south end of the peninsula.
A little grasshopper noted my departure, and bid me farewell as I left.
Green Thought: “Love the animals. God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Don’t trouble it, don’t harass them of their happiness, don’t work against God’s intent.”
― Fyodor Dostoyevsky
