Just Another Day at the Bulkhead–May 31, 2013
Today was a short day. Too much to do, and not enough time to do it, or so it seemed. Just enough time for a quick dash to all the familiar places, but I came up empty-handed except for the usual suspects – a few seagulls, a trio of ducks, a yellow crown, and of course, the little blue heron.
So I wondered, do these creatures ever get tired of the same old routine? Do they start their day with a sigh, and a, “Here we go again”? Or do they begin fresh with a pep talk: “Today I will score the best catch ever”?
Or do they just enjoy the moment? — the morning sun on their wings, an invigorating flight across the lake, a great spot at the fishing hole, the bite of a tasty morsel, the content feeling of a full stomach…
We have so much to learn from them.
