A Year on Clear Lake-May 28, 2013

May Morning–May 28, 2013

Morning came in colorful layers today–a pleasant way to start the day. In the end, though, the gray won out, and a threat of showers hung on.  Some days are like that–they begin with great promise, but crater long before noon. In that respect, they are not much different from ourselves–filled with good intentions, but lacking in follow through.

And so the day was a quiet one. The water level remains high, as does the wind, strong and steady. The bulkhead, by the marina, is completely underwater–not much for the birds to work with today. In fact the only bird I found in the area was a lone mallard. Over by the bridge, a great white egret was knee-deep in the water, and a few snowy egrets were nearby.
