A Year on Clear Lake-Jul 06, 2013

Rain Has Fallen–July 6, 2013

It rained this morning, and word traveled fast. The yellow-crowned herons were plentiful, scattered about in the tall grasses. The water was standing in the low spots, which includes much of the area. But we’re so long overdue for a good, thorough soaking, that the land is parched and the water won’t stand for long.  The birds are quick to take advantage of the gift. After days of seeing only one or two, suddenly the birds are popping up all over. When I snapped the photo of the great white egret above I didn’t realize there was another character lurking in the background. The yellow-crowned was a fun surprise when I downloaded the images.

Just like the decidedly different energy that’s detectable in the early morning, energy changes after a rain shower. It’s revitalizing and cleansing. The rain is like  liquid gold, enriching all it touches.

Green Thought:  Rain is grace; rain is the sky condescending to the earth; without rain there would be no life. – John Updike
