A Year on Clear Lake-Feb 18, 2013

Rainy Day and Monday–February 18, 2013

If rainy days and Mondays always brought the Carpenters down, then today would have been a double whammy–both a rainy day and a Monday.

A gray start to a rainy day.

I don’t mind if I can stay tucked in at home, a cup of hot tea at hand. I will admit, though, these days can be challenging for exciting lake photography. There is only one other type of day that is worse–a windy day. Ah, maybe you didn’t notice, but today’s winds have been clocked at about 20-25 mph sustained with gusts up to 35 mph.

Most birds are smart enough to lay low on these kinds of days, and so is your fair-weather lake photographer/writer. Thus today’s photo, snapped through the living room window, captures the image of a dove who failed to get the memo. (They usually do, but I still love them.)

Choppy waters

Anyway, it’s only fair when we get dealt a triple whammy that we should treat ourselves kindly. So, next time, you have my permission to stay home, fix yourself a nice, steaming latte, and kickback. Enjoy. These kind of days don’t come often enough.
