A Year on Clear Lake-Dec 31, 2012

Happy New Year – Dec 31. 2012

The day has been a gray one, overcast and rainy, from start to finish, but still the night sky ignited in fireworks thanks to our neighbors across the lake, who put on a personal fireworks display.

It’s been an interesting year. I’m enjoying this blog even though I am frustrated that I seldom have the time to write as much as I had originally envisioned.

What I love most about my daily posts is the way my relationship with the lake, and nature for that matter, is growing stronger. I’m learning to love each day for its uniqueness, and I am awed by the infinite numbers of natural presentations; there are no two identical sunrises, or foggy mornings, or gray days. Each is its own special creation.

I’m learning the names of the birds that are visitors to our area, and I’m discovering more about their migratory habits and a little more about them in general. I’m exploring new areas of the lake that provide new angles, new views, and new territory. I’m unearthing the history of the area, and want to dig deeper. I pass empty waterfront lots along the parkway and try to remember what was there before it was empty. I hope to share more of all these thing in the coming year.

I am grateful for the lake. I am grateful for her lessons. I look forward to the new year, and all that she will share with me.

Wishing you a New Year filled with adventure, discovery and much joy!
