Fading sunlight sets the tubular flowers of this Pineapple Sage aglow. From a distance this plant is a tameless mess, long overdue to be trimmed back. Looking close up, though, one still finds too much inherent joy in its red blooms and gnarly stems to whack them away. Besides, at last check, the bees hadn’t complained, and I’m relatively certain that any stray hummers still hanging about, would be happy to drop by for a drink.
