A-dredging we go – Dec. 14, 2012
I always enjoy seeing this little barge plying the lake’s waters. It reminds me of the Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn film, The African Queen. I’m not sure why – it doesn’t look anything like the African Queen – but it does have a rustic quality to it – not like most of the sleek boats or fancy yachts, or jazzy jet skis for that matter, zipping about the lake.
Maybe it’s the stark contrast between a working boat and all the many pleasure boats. It’s another aspect of the lake – a reminder that the lake isn’t just fun and games. It’s hard work and sweat, too.
